What is “do-good”?
We define ‘do good’ jobs as those that work towards positive social and environmental change.
These include roles in not-for-profits, charities, the public sector, B-Corp certified organisations, social enterprises and other organisations.
Is yours a do good job?
At Do Good Jobs, we know our niche. We connect job seekers who want to make an impact for Aotearoa New Zealand and the world with organisations who do that too.
We’re proud of our niche, and we do it well. BUT that does mean that not every job is suitable for our job board.
GOOD ORGANISATION
If your organisation as a whole has a primary focus on making a positive impact in the World, then you are welcome to list any role within your organisation.
If you fall into this category, you might be a charity, a not-for-profit, a social enterprise or an NGO.
GOOD JOB
If for-purpose isn’t your organisation’s core focus BUT you have a specific role that is focused on promoting positive outcomes, then you are welcome to list that role.
If you fall into this category, you might be a government agency, a local council, a B-Corp or a for-profit business.
We do not accept listings from organisations involved in the military, the security services, multi-level marketing, networking marketing, tobacco, gambling or the fossil fuel/oil industry or from organisations that promote discrimination or human rights violations.
We work hard to ensure all roles fit our criteria, are relevant to our job seeking community and meet the standards that our community might hold. However, we appreciate that everyone's view of whether an organisation or role is "good" or "not good" varies and this means that on occasion roles may be listed that some members of our community do not personally agree with.
We do actively review all listings that are added to our job board and reserve the right to remove any that we do not feel meet our criteria or has other issues. In that case we'll be in touch to discuss why and your options.
We also welcome listings from recruitment agencies/consultants recruiting for suitable organisations and roles.
Do Good Jobs supports showing the salary so we strongly recommend including a salary or salary band. If your job is part-time please include the pro-rata rate.
Not sure if your role is a good fit? Email us at hello@dogoodjobs.co.nz, or schedule a chat with Amy, our business development manager, and we’ll be happy to talk things through.
How to list with us
If you are already signed up with Do Good Jobs, then you’re all set to list a job. If you aren’t already signed up then you’ll need to set up an account first. That’s simple to do - just click sign up, complete your account details and choose the right package for your recruitment needs.
Make the most of your organisation profile
When you list a job, your organisation profile will appear on our organisation page. Jobseekers will also be able to set up custom job alerts for your organisation.
Before you list a role make sure you complete your profile fully. Upload a logo and complete the Organisation Description section. This is your chance to showcase your organisation and its work and what benefits you can offer someone applying for a role with you.
Quick tips for writing a great job ad
Describe the role in as much detail as you can and be accurate
Consider your hard requirements carefully and consider whether you can reword them to be more open.
State the salary or salary band. If the job is part-time then show the pro rata rate to make it easy for candidates to see what they will earn.
Clearly state whether the role needs to be in-office or can be done fully remotely, or whether hybrid working is an option.
Remember that recruitment is a two-way street - make sure your listing includes the benefits your organisation and the role offers to potential candidates.
Beware of biased language that could put off potential candidates
Cut out those buzzwords that don’t add any substance.
